hello and welcome to
extra mile project!
Extra Mile Project is a global initiative to spread awareness about the negative impacts of tourism and inspire people to travel responsibly. The main goal is to make sustainable travel more realistic, reachable, and compatible with different needs, budgets, and preferences.
While a very young initiative, we aim to be the #1 resource for all things sustainable travel. It may sound ambitious for a small platform like this, but you know what they say – go big or go home!

the concept behind extra mile project
Travel has never been so affordable. For a few euros, you can go country-hopping across Europe. For a few hundred, you can fly overseas.
With Instagram-perfect pictures popping out everywhere and FOMO on the rise, tourist numbers have been growing exponentially and overtourism is really putting a strain on popular destinations.
Finding sustainable travel solutions is not important – it’s crucial. And that’s where Extra Mile Project comes in!
I believe there’s no one way to be a sustainable traveler, no checklist to complete.
Sustainability is about choosing the best option available every time you have to make a decision.
It could mean traveling off the peak season and thinning out your itinerary to enjoy your time at each location, pausing long enough to actually see the must-sees rather than racing through them. You could support a community by staying at a small family-owned hotel and choosing local tour operators. Or, you could help finance conservation efforts through an ethical safari. The possibilities are endless.
The truth is that sustainable travel means many different things and there’s no one-size-fits-all.
So, rather than getting on my high horse and pointing out everything wrong with the travel industry, I will share my knowledge and all the information you need to travel sustainably. In no time, you’ll be able to tell exactly what’s sustainable and what isn’t, and you’ll be fully aware of how to minimize your negative impacts while maximizing the positive ones.
It may not always be easy and straightforward, but every little effort adds up.
SMALL STEPS CAN TAKE YOU A LONG WAY!
